I am a recent high school graduate currently pursuing a dual degree in engineering and aviation, with a major in mechanical engineering. My long-term goal is to become a pilot for Cathay Pacific. Before moving to Australia in 2021, where I attended a boarding school, I lived in Hong Kong. During my time there, I participated in “Challenge Week,” an annual school event designed to push students beyond their limits, where I earned both a sailing and a diving license. Throughout my academic journey, I have developed strong problem-solving, organizational, and social skills. I enjoy working on engineering projects, playing basketball, and look forward to combining my passion for aviation and engineering in my future career.
During my time with the simulated consulting team of an automotive design firm, I advised a client on converting solar car technology to solar-powered public transport vehicles, like small taxis. This involved reading design documents, addressing technological and policy issues, calculating costs, and communicating effectively with clients to meet their needs.
During the virtual engineering internship, I was given the opportunity to work on a solar solution design project for a commercial building, with the objective of achieving net-zero electrical energy use. This project was particularly challenging as it required a fine balance between technical feasibility, cost-efficiency, and sustainability goals.
