Working as a Mental Injury Senior Case Manager for close to two years and my customer service background has not only allowed me to learn about the importance of positive relationships in the workplace, but has also allowed me to build on my accountability and adaptability skillset. I’ve learned that mental injuries in the workplace are unique and to support a person, it takes a certain proactivity and attention to detail to provide this. This role has given me the chance to recognise the necessary steps to take in supporting an individual in their recovery whilst also achieving return to work goals. I’m hoping to take my knowledge and experience to the next level in a specialist role with managing more complex claims, taking on a mentor position and growing confidence in my skillset.
- Managing a variety of mental injury claims from small, medium, and large clients involving proactive and customer-focused approach. This often includes explaining elements of the Workcover scheme as well as recommending strategy around recovery and return to work.
- De-escalating frustration and aggression in instances of dissatisfaction from injured workers, employers, and treaters.
- Ensuring deadlines are met by managing my time efficiently. For example, ensuring all actions and contacts are frequently monitored on each claim.
- Taking time to help colleagues if they need assistance with a query or process.
- Identifying and adapting strategy to each claim according to what will be most effective in supporting the worker and reaching the Return To Work measure.
- Leading and supporting employees to successfully carry out required tasks involved to close the store nightly.
- Handled employee-related issues including providing wellbeing support and encouraging growth within their performance.
- De-escalating and mediating situations involving customer dissatisfaction and team member conflict.
- Involvement in training and process implementation including regular safety and wellbeing reviews that comply with OHS protocols.
