To summarize myself as a worker, I'd say im a valuable member and helping hand to a team. Happy to turn up and do what I have to and happy to undertake any form of education required for a position on your team. I have patience and understanding in people, having multiple close friends in the industry I understand that will be a big part of whats necessary. Lastly Im very flexible with hours having minimal commitments.
As a brick labourer my job was to ensure the efficiency, tidiness and preparation of any job we were assigned. As well as to always stay on top of the distribution of materials and equipment to 2-5 bricklayers at any one time. Although not one of the most academic jobs, working with all different types of people in a physically draining job working quick and with quality I picked up some valuable skills; Great teamwork and communication skills, the ability to multi-task and strictly manage my time along with dedication to commit and do whats asked of me.
The skills I learned in carpentry were much the same as those needed in my current job. The few difference's were at the time of employment I obviously knew less about the workforce as a whole and the fact that there is a lot more variety in the work. knowing less about the workforce and trades specifically, I had to learn and remember things quickly, as we could be doing something completely different the next day dew to the variety of the work. Attending NSW Tafe throughout my apprenticeship, I also learnt about safety codes and government standers being a necessity throughout the workforce and proved i could do the bookwork along with the practical.
The skills i've picked up from my few year in the workforce are:
- Communication and teamwork skills
- Multitasking and efficiency skills
- Keeping my workspace clean and tidy
- Ensuring quality and results in my work
- Dedication, patience and persistence skills
