Work History

Microbiology / Virology Analyst

CSL Seqirus
Parkville, VIC
01.2024 - Current
  • Routinely performed mammalian cell culture procedures, including passaging, splitting, and thawing cells from liquid nitrogen storage, for various virology assays, including the detection of viable virus contaminants that may have escaped the inactivation process during vaccine manufacturing.
  • Successfully performed DNA extraction and multiplex PCR to assess viral contaminants in 10 antivenom vaccine samples within a day.
  • Efficiently processed 20 samples within a day for virus contaminant testing, utilizing vaccine samples to assess their efficacy and safety in disease control for livestock.
  • Successfully utilized immunoperoxidase staining to identify cytopathic effects (CPE) in virus strains to detect the presence of partially inactivated viral material in vaccine samples, contributing to the regulatory testing process.
  • Executed virus neutralization assays to assess protective antibody levels against the virus in livestock, ensuring vaccine potency and validating the efficacy of viral neutralization.
  • Conducted extraneous agent detection tests on inactivated vaccines using cell passages, effectively confirming the absence of potential contaminants introduced during the production process.
  • Conducted laboratory equipment calibration and maintenance in line with the relevant safety and compliance standards.
  • Maintained detailed documentation of all laboratory activities, including calibration logs, test results, and quality control records, to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Assisted colleagues in navigating the LIMS, providing guidance and support to enhance their understanding of data entry and retrieval processes.
  • Reviewed the work health & safety standards and updated operational documentation and SOPs to improve safety awareness and accountability.

Laboratory Technician (Microbiology)

Symbio Laboratories
Ravenhall, VIC
03.2023 - 06.2023
  • Maintained a 99% accuracy rate in performing microbial confirmation tests, ensuring the delivery of reliable and precise results to clients
  • Successfully processed an average of 15 samples per day and was recognized for maintaining a high level of efficiency without compromising quality
  • Adhere to aseptic techniques in preparation of samples for microbiological analysis, and perform all activities in compliance with GLP, Quality systems Standards and NATA requirements
  • Enumeration and detection of a range of bacteria, including S Aureus, Total coliforms, Enterobacteriaceae, E Coli, Clostridium perfringens, B Cereus in food and beverage samples, using pour plate, serial dilution, spread plate and Petrifilm
  • Prepare samples for analysis, and accurately and efficiently process samples while meeting quality standards and turnaround time (TAT) expectations

Laboratory Technician

Australian Clinical Laboratories
Clayton, VIC
01.2022 - 02.2022
  • Conducted PCR tests for COVID-19 on 500+ patient samples within a 2-month timeframe, consistently meeting and exceeding testing targets
  • Prioritized tasks effectively, ensuring the timely delivery of test results to healthcare providers, and contributing to patient care during the critical phase of the pandemic
  • Attained a 98% accuracy rate in PCR test results and was recognized for maintaining attention to detail and high-quality standards during challenging periods
  • Maintained detailed daily logs of sample processing steps, test results, and equipment usage, facilitating efficient traceability and auditing processes
