Maria Zaidi

I am a driven junior medical officer (resident), with a proven track record at NSW Health (SWSLHD). I am interested in a future as an internal medicine physician, cultivating an interest in Gastroenterology, due to its versatility as a medical speciality, with both diagnostic and procedural aspects. I have completed a mix of medical and surgical specialties, as well as acute care and emergency medicine, affording me invaluable clinical exposure, which I hope to build upon as a medical registrar. I am involved in research in the SWSLHD district, and plan to substantiate this further by undertaking a Masters of Clinical Epidemiology in 2025, underpinning the importance of continual learning and development in medicine, an ever-growing field.

In my time outside of medicine and the hospital, I am an avid fan of the arts, ranging from classical Indian music to poetry, as well as film and TV, ranging across many languages, cultures and time periods. On the weekends, I can be found in a Reformer Pilates class, or playing tennis or netball with my friends. To end the day, I ensure that I wind down by reflecting in my hand-written journal, a habit that I have kept up for many years.
