Backfill Part-time Temporary Position

• Provide an advanced level of clinical expertise and care regarding patient assessment within the community setting in conjunction with emergency services (QAS, QPS)
• Demonstrate an advanced level of critical-thinking skills, and problem-solving skills with consumers experiencing an acute mental health crisis
• Demonstrate an advanced level of ability to conduct holistic comprehensive mental health assessments, safety planning and provide referrals to community mental health services, and relevant stakeholders/NGO providers
• Demonstrate ability to provide an advanced level of specialised mental health knowledge, rapid assessment and interventions utilising a trauma-informed approach
• Work collaboratively with QAS to prevent and safely resolve mental health crisis situations within the community by providing brief interventions including utilising the suicide prevention pathway
• Demonstrate a high level of skills to safeguard the individual experiencing a mental health illness and able to complete risk assessment to determine best outcome for the consumer

Full- time Permanent Position

• Practice autonomously and demonstrate a high level of critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills relevant to the care of consumers within the mental health emergency setting
• Provide an expert level of clinical knowledge and clinical care for consumers and carers with a variety of mental health disorders
• Regularly work as the PEC Team Leader which involves delegating and supporting my peers, assist in behavioural management of consumers awaiting MH admission within the PEC environment, triaging referrals, liaising with the multi-disciplinary team, community and inpatient teams and the Emergency Department regarding consumers requiring mental health intervention and planning
• Work collaboratively with the RBWH Emergency Trauma Centre team and provide support, guidance around consumers experiencing a mental health crisis
• Effectively able to complete comprehensive holistic mental health assessments, safe discharge planning and risk assessments involving consumer, carers and relevant stakeholders
• Provides a high level of deescalation skills for consumers with acute behavioural concerns
• Provide education, support to consumers and their families to ensure, and instill hope around their own recovery journey
• Display accountability and responsibility for own actions and delegation of care
• Effectively able to respond to sudden alternations of the health status of consumers in a high-pressured environment
• Integrate nursing and health care knowledge, skills and ability specific to Mental Health Nursing by supporting evidence-based and participating in professional development
• Display accountability and responsibility for own actions and delegation of care

One week Backfill

• Provide support, guidance and leadership to the staff within the ward environment
• Complete operational duties including Roster, Movement forms
• Attend various leadership meetings, advocate for consumers and the PEC staff
• Provide constructive- non judgemental feedback to staff regarding their performance

• Always practice in accordance with code of ethics, professional standards and legislation regarding nursing practice by maintaining current knowledge and competence within scope of practice
• Able to apply clinical nursing expertise, including assessment, planning, implementation to deliver a high standard of patient-centred care
• Undertakes comprehensive nursing assessment and intervention skills
• Established a high level of clinical skills and problem-solving skills
• Work within the multi-disciplinary team with a good communication skills
• Abides by the Mental Health Act at all times
• Advocates for my consumers, and have the ability to establish rapport with consumers from a diverse background through emphatic listening and culturally sensitive communication practices
• Provide education, and support regarding consumer's mental health and prompt recovery and hope in her mental health journey
• Provide contemporary evidence based consumer focused care
• Provide crisis intervention services during psychiatric emergencies, ensuring patient safety through effective de-escalation techniques.
