Summary

My name is Micayla Lycett, I played sport when I was young dancing at Netball. I was successful in both and was always a team player. I studied at Catherine Mcauley school through Reception to year 7 and then went on too my senior schooling at Hope Christian College from Year 8 to 12. In year 11 I completed at VET course through my school and studied to receive my Certificate 3 in Early Childhood Education and Care. After High school I went on to work at Hillbank Community Children’s Centre where my main employment had been for the last three years. In this time I have also had Casual employment at Imagine childcare and kindergarten Blakeview and have worked at St. Francis and Xavier’s Catholic school in the OSHC. All these employments have been the reason I have gained all my knowledge and skills with working with children, Food Serving. Paper work/Computer work as well as regular maintenance in a work place environment. I am an efficient worker who is always willing to take on different workplace roles being reliable and responsible.

Hillbank Community Children’s Centre Casual Educator

December 2020- June 2021

Paid Relief work in the Baby, Toddler and Kindy Room after completion of Certificate 3 in early childhood education and care.

My role was to fill in when other educators could not be in attendance. The skills I maintained whilst being a casual educator were. Helping permanent educators organise daily room routines and activities. Food preparation, First Aid, supervising and engaging in children’s play, nappy changes and toileting.

Hillbank Community Children’s Centre- Full time contract Position in Kindy room

July 2021- December 2023

After working as a Casual educator for some time I was offered a full time position in the kindy room. This changed my role quite significantly. Being a permanent educator in the room I now had my own group of primary children that I was responsible for with learning through play programming, literacy and numeracy learning, group time participation, working with learning disabilities and trauma children. I was able to take on a more active role and become part of the team.

  • Built relationships with parents and children to discover their learning goals throughout the year.
  • Collaborated with colleagues to develop and create a curriculum based on children’s needs, likes and interests. Children having their say in their own learning development which enhances the learning experience.
  • Established strong relationships with parents through regular communication via app seesaw and fostering a supportive network for their child’s success.
  • Implemented classroom management techniques that fostered a positive and productive learning environment.

After working with HCCC for three years now I decided to take a step down to focus on study

And other job opportunities. I am looking to grow my career with children and hopefully work in learning support in a school based Environment.
