  • Monitor, plan and co-ordinate movement of freight and shunt trains within the Brisbane Metropolitan area consistent with Business Groups needs and in accordance with the Queensland Rail Safeworking standards, Interface Co-ordination Plans, Access Protocols, Occupational Health and Safety instructions and relevant statutory obligations.
  • Ensure a Quality customer service to internal/external customers including other Rail Operators and Queensland Rail Business Groups by liaising with other Controllers and Transport Officers to ensure an efficient on time train performance.
  • Utilise Queensland Rail Mainframe and PC based systems ( ViZiRail, ITOPS,RTOA, IWAY, PO call line and the freight sheet) to ensure Business Group requirements are met and best utilisation of resources is attained.
  • Initiate a response to incidents/accidents in freight yards by liaising with Shift Supervisors, Yard Co-ordinators, Service Delivery Supervisor, Emergency Services and internal Queensland Rail agencies, and record and compile report to VIZIRAIL.
  • Maintain records of any new and altered safety standards, procedures and changes to infrastructure to facilitate familiarisation for Network Control staff who have been absent for extended periods.
  • Monitor and report on Traveltrain on time running and incidents statewide.
  • Maintain and disseminate relevant documentation and information for use within the Mayne Control Centre and ensure that all required performance information is recorded, reported and handed over.

  • Monitoring of late trains and ensuring Rail Traffic Crews working, conform to industrial agreements and Queensland rail policies.
  • Liaising with Train Control leaders and Network Control officers to assist in on-time running and reliability e.g organising Fresh turnouts to run on time services and to meet train maintenance needs.
