I am a qualified fitter and machinist, starting my apprenticeship in 1987 and working in the industry until 2012.
My experience was in all facets of mechanical work, from maintenance, modification, and installation of heavy machinery.
I started working in the electrical infrastructure industry in 2012, starting with poles and underground as a trades assistant, and was trained as an operator of mobile plant and all aspects of line work involved in distribution and transmission work.
In November 2016, I ended my employment with Poles & Underground and started working with SP Power, where I am employed as an operator/trades assistant.
My day to day duties include operating plant, including pole borers, tele handlers, EWPs, Franna cranes, Tesmec & Tema stringing machines, winch trucks & trailers, capstan winches.
I also assist linemen with all aspects of linework, including termination of conductors, installation of guy ropes, sagging and tensioning, and removal, relocation, or replacement of existing poles, and transmission and distribution lines.
