Work History

Engineering Intern(Estimating & BOQ)

AHB Group(Residential Construction)
Derrimut,Melbourne, VIC
03.2025 - 06.2025

Gained intensive experience as a key member of the Bill of Quantities (BOQ) team at AHB Group, Victoria's second-largest residential builder. I was entrusted with the technical and commercial analysis of documentation for over 150 unique house designs.

Key Responsibilities:

Analyzed complex architectural drawings in Autodesk Design Review to perform detailed material take-offs and update BOQ cost centers for multiple trades.
Performed technical reviews to identify and resolve design changes and errors related to steel lintels, HVAC systems (exhaust fans, vents), and gas-to-electric conversions.
Managed the defect resolution process in Business Craft during a rotation with the Warranty & Services team, responsible for interpreting client inspection reports, and coordinating with trades to rectify on-site issues.
Applied detailed knowledge of the National Construction Code (NCC) and multiple Australian Standards (AS/NZS) to all tasks to ensure structural and safety compliance.
Key Achievements:

Praised by senior management for an exceptional work ethic after mastering the Business Craft Platform to successfully analyze and validate the Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for more than 150 unique house designs, achieving 100% procurement accuracy on all assigned tasks.
Prevented widespread rework costs by establishing a system-wide correction process: upon identifying a single error, I proactively audited all 150+ house plans to find and rectify every recurring instance, ensuring consistency across both old and new NCC standards.

Project Engineer

V.R.R CONSTRUCTIONS
01.2019 - 11.2022

Project Name: National Optical Fiber Network for PGCIL (as part of the flagship Digital India Campaign).
Directed the on-ground execution and delivery of critical fiber infrastructure across a portfolio of 15 project blocks (mandals). My role was to deliver the last-mile connectivity for the BharatNet initiative, connecting a total of over 250 rural village councils, and navigating the immense challenges of taking over a stalled project after the previous contractor went bankrupt.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineered the complete network topology for multiple project blocks, creating detailed plans in AutoCAD for cable sections, splitter placement, and joint closures (SJC/BJC), in addition to authoring the foundational SLDs, and final As-Built Drawings.
Directed all on-site civil works across challenging, rocky terrain, managing trenching operations that required controlled blasting, and overseeing the installation of specialized ducting and RCC/brick joint chambers.
Oversaw the entire network installation and commissioning phase, including the pulling and blowing of OFC, executing all fiber splicing and splitter installations, and managing final hardware mounting (FDMS at OLT locations, and FTBs at Gram Councils).
Managed the project's commercial cycle and stakeholder relations, acting as the primary liaison with PGCIL to ensure adherence to their strict protocols, secure approvals, and submit all billing applications.
Took sole responsibility for all quality assurance, conducting end-to-end testing of all fibres with OTDR and power meters to guarantee network integrity for final handover.
Key Achievements:
Rescued a stalled, loss-making project inherited from a bankrupt contractor, driving it to profitability by implementing a new construction strategy, and personally securing all payments through a complex 'comfort letter' arrangement after the client was unable to guarantee the necessary third-party approvals.
Pioneered a high-speed construction methodology to mitigate project delays associated with utility damage. This strategy, involving the mass deployment of construction crews in continuous 24-hour cycles, consistently delivered up to 3 km of fully commissioned fiber within a single cycle.

Project Engineer

SAI KARTHIKEYA INFRA
01.2015 - 11.2018

Project Name: Reliance Jio National Long-Distance Fiber Network.
Spearheaded the end-to-end site execution for a critical 300+ km section of Jio's 1.1 million km national fiber backbone project. Held sole accountability for all project phases, from initial route planning and geotechnical assessments through to construction management, quality assurance, and final client handover.
Key Responsibilities:
Led the initial site planning, conducted on-foot route surveys and soil testing to assess geotechnical conditions, and was then responsible for translating all field data into the official Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) using AutoCAD.
Engineered and managed all on-site civil works by selecting optimal construction methods to overcome challenging geotechnical conditions, ensuring all depth specifications were met while supervising excavation, chamber construction, and the installation of route markers, all while maintaining strict WHS/OH&S compliance.
Planned and scheduled daily construction activities, allocating manpower and materials based on site progress, and using GIS to manage route alignment in real time.
Oversaw all network commissioning and quality assurance, and acted as the sole point of contact for all client audits—from in-progress civil checks, like trench depth (1.65 m), to final network performance tests (OTDR, power meter).
Managed the final project handover and stakeholder liaison, preparing all As-Built Drawings, and performing a detailed reconciliation of all work quantities and client-supplied materials using the MS Office Suite.
Key Achievements:
Maximized overall project profitability on a critical 8 km section by strategically opting for machine trenching over the tendered, low-margin HDD method. This strategy intentionally minimized the base construction cost to generate significantly higher-margin revenue from the contract's separately billed ancillary works.
Successfully executed all high-margin ancillary works (M25-grade concrete and DWC pipe installation) despite the constant threat of trench collapse in unstable, water-logged ground; this flawless, rapid execution was critical to securing the project's profitability and ensuring long-term network integrity.
