From this job I had begun to learn the following skills:
Over the past five years I have gained valuable skill sets and first-hand experience with youth and young people in a variety of different settings. I have completed volunteer work at the Woden School for youth with mild to severe disabilities, I spent four years completing an internship program through my Church community which focuses on volunteering and providing for and caring for those in the community in need. I also volunteer in a pastoral care role to care for the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual needs of the youth and young people in my Church community as I oversee the youth group, young adults community, and other families and individuals within the community.
I engage weekly with youth and young people experiencing mental health difficulties as I provide spaces for them to connect, feel safe and work through things in a pastoral care setting.
I have a passion for serving others and coming alongside them to journey through life. I have been overseas to Cambodia and Uganda on mission trips and to the Hmong community in Cairns, where I experienced teaching in schools, running youth programs and engaging in a range of different jobs and experiences. I have also been privileged to lead a team of missionaries to both Uganda and Vanuatu and to plan, organise and run both of these trips.
