Development of the Investa ESG strategy in collaboration with sustainability, real estate operations, funds, executive and boards to define strategic objectives for group, fund, and asset performance

Development of the Investa 2025 Net Zero Emissions Target including certification by Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) and 3 of 4 required sub-strategies

  • Operational Energy Efficiency Strategy (scopes 1 & 2)
  • Renewable Electricity Procurement Strategy (scope 2)

As the Senior Project Manager at Big Switch Projects, I led a small sustainability consulting team to deliver building engineering reviews, project management of construction and building services upgrades, and delivery of NSW state government environmental programs/projects

Key projects led included:

Solar Cities (Adelaide and Blacktown)

  • Development of residential energy efficiency programs valued at AUD $15M- $20M to accompany solar energy installation programs within consortium bids (led by BP Solar) competing for funding under the Australian federal government’s Solar Cities Program
  • Bids prepared for Blacktown City and Adelaide City respectively, were both successful in receiving funding

Five Dock CBD Demand Management Program

Project managed NSW state government funded (under contract to SEDA) pilot demand-management program to the Five Dock CBD electrical distribution network to test network operator rules in relation to seeking least-cost alternatives.

  • The pilot was successful in identifying projects (with a combined value of AUD $15.2M) that delivered suitable financial returns for customers (supported by co-contribution funding from the network operator), which would permit deferral of the network upgrade.

Lord Howe Island - Energy Efficiency Program

Project managed NSW state government (under contract to SEDA) residential and business energy efficiency and demand management project on Lord Howe Island to assess potential for mitigation of increasing generation and network capacity:

  • Developed a community engagement program, audit program, and program costs for funding approval by SEDA.
  • Delivered remote community engagement pre-arrival, and Town Hall community meeting with residents and business owners upon arrival to garner support for the program.
  • Delivered a 1-week energy efficiency audit program for residents and businesses providing them with costed proposals for implementation, supported through existing government funded programs.
  • Prepared a report for Lord Howe Island Administration and SEDA outlining aggregate opportunities, and likely projected demand trajectories based on findings.

After commencing my building degree, I worked full-time at Quasar Constructions, I was responsible for:

  • Conducting site inspections, preparation and submission of quotes for residential insurance remediation works, including subsequent management of projects awarded by loss adjustors, typically managing between 7-10 minor works contracts simultaneously.
  • Project coordination of multiple commercial minor works construction projects (up to $800k) awarded through competitive tender process. Responsibilities included construction programming, site establishment, procurement of all trades and subsequent coordination, preparation of monthly progress reports and claims, managing project budget, liaising with design team for necessary design detailing and management of defects through DLP.
