• Delivery of Commonwealth funded Tackling Indigenous Smoking project across Far West of NSW to facilitate opportunities for local Aboriginal people to take a leadership role in community to tackle tobacco smoking and vaping; engaging families to reduce exposure to passive smoking; developing capacity of Maari Ma workforce to deliver practice cessation intervention and support benefits of smoke free workplaces across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitation of training – smoking and vaping cessation interventions
• Health promotion
• Coordination of Maari Ma Health Tobacco Management program & provision of nicotine cessation support to participants.

Achievements

• Contribution to organisation securing continued funding grants for the Tackling Indigenous Smoking project from a 1-year grant through to 4-year grants over 13.5 years.
• Invitation to speak at National conferences.
• Adapting health promotion strategies to enable project targets achieved during global COVID health pandemic.
• Securing partnerships with external community service providers to enhance meeting target objectives.

• Family/adult caseworker providing advocacy & support for the acquisition of short-, medium- and long-term housing with an average of caseload of 30 clients.
