Objectives

• Leading, coaching, mentoring and developing a high performing business development team
• Contributing to and executing the distribution strategy.
• Building and strengthening broker relationships with Commercial and International brokers
• Defining and managing sales budgets and targets
• Working collaboratively with distribution, underwriting, claims and credit leaders and teams to deliver a cohesive state business plan and service/value proposition

Key Accountabilities

• Developing robust state business plans to expand the distribution of products and increase market share
• Recruit, monitor performance, reward and retain an effective, highly skilled workforce
• Lead, coach, mentor and develop a happy and high performing business development team
• Build and maintain strong strategic and collaborative partnerships with key and high value brokers and important insurance stakeholders
• Develop and monitor budgets to ensure individual sales team and state targets are achieved
• Identify, drive and participate in strategic improvement initiatives

Technical Competencies

• Insurance - commercial understanding of the general insurance market, products and underwriting
• Commerciality - understanding of the business environment and operations
• Sales - knowledge of sales principles
• Brokers - knowledge of the broker landscape and key/influential brokers
