3rd in Charge

DECJUBA
09.2017 - 02.2019
  • In my first two weeks, I was given the responsibility to be trusted with the store key to open the store alone in the mornings, and set up the store for the business day, and ensure all morning procedures were followed within an appropriate time to ensure readiness to start the day on time
  • Financial management of cash registers, ensuring float of tills were accurate, and banking of excess funds at the end of the day
  • Dealing with external auditors of the organisation, and ensuring we are compliant with our necessary obligations of Decjuba Head office I.e During stock take
  • Calculation of analytics, which include. Budget comparison from prior year to current year, and having daily meetings on a ‘plan of attack’ to ensure that we meet our weekly budget goals, and areas to improve on
  • Front line role of being the first point of contact for consumers, assisting customers with a wide variety of their needs, and ensuring they left the store satisfied, and with a rapport that ensured they’d return
  • Stock take, ensuring order numbers reconcile to on floor stock, and ensuring that there are no variations, and if discrepancies are found, necessary action is taken to ensure discrepancies are rectified and addressed.
  • Organising the monthly rosters of staff, ensuring that labour costs are calculated correctly, and correctly budgeted for, as well as also ensuring staff are able to work on correct days allocated. Any issues that arise with rostering are also dealt with promptly and effectively to ensure we continue to operate smoothly.
  • Reconfiguration of the store layout to prepare for new stock. Often, we would receive 24 hours' notice or less to meet this objective. Having such tight deadlines means that my time management skills need to be put into effective use and efficiently delegated to my juniors to ensure that all targets are met in the appropriate time frame.
  • As part of my role as a manager, I am responsible for the training and coaching of staff and newcomers. In a position in management, it is vital that the company morals/expectations are passed on in a fashion that allows the individuals being coached to learn efficiently and effectively. I like to lead in a style of management that is open to two-way communication to ensure that my staff feel comfortable to bring any issues up with myself.
  • Taking inventory of all stock, and ensuring all cyclical counts are completely accurately. Checking the completeness and accuracy of all inventory stock counts, and ensuring all stock agreed to our online system. Discrepancy reports are generated, and corrective measures are taken to ensure the overall organisational objectives are being met at the frontline of the business.
  • Signing off on banking deposits and ensuring correct reconciliation of cash management is taken at the close of business day.
