PROFESSIONAL ETHOS

  • Community: A core value of mine is to help others and to serve a greater purpose. It is in my nature to empathise with those who are facing adversities. I believe in merging empathy with action to provide compassionate support.
  • Respect: Diversity in the workplace means collaborating with people who might share different beliefs, political views, faith and/or language. Regardless, I am acutely aware that my words and actions can make a lasting impression on anyone. As such, I show consideration and respect by using a neutral tone when I speak, holding appropriate eye contact in conversations and express gratitude often.
  • Efficiency: Beyond keyboard shortcuts, I really appreciate simplifying workflows to achieve the best possible outcome. I often think ahead when handling enquiries, and prepare solutions to suit the request. Additionally, I like to combine basic tasks which awards myself more time to complete complex duties.
  • Accountability: Learning new concepts or systems is integral to any manner of job. It’s important to remember that we also learn from our mistakes. I exemplify accountability when I am honest and own my errors, but I will always craft an appropriate solution to rectify the mistake as well as prevent it from repeating in the future.

Australia Day Student Award

Each year, the City of Casey council awards 10 students the opportunity to learn how the local, state and federal governments operate in Australia and I was fortunate enough to be selected in 2014. I will never forget the thrill of witnessing Question Time live in Melbourne State Parliament and how lucky I was to visit the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) in Canberra.
